Yeah, there are many things about my Treo that I enjoy, and some things I never use, and that has a lot to do with shortcomings of the built-in software. But Apple certainly catches my attention with this by using the same UI technology from Jeff Han that I was drooling over a few months ago…
I think Apple has extended their user experience victory to the mobile device. It’s the same strategy that worked for them in the desktop, which is that interface you thought was flat 2D space is really 3D. All of a sudden the windows spin around and dance across the screen. What could be more exciting? (The windows desktop doesn’t even employ 3D drivers and is incapable of these feats.)
I really like the tactile features of flicking the screen to scroll and flipping through albums.
However, I can’t buy such a smart device that I can’t write code for, that’s just the way it is.. So I’m going to admire from afar and hope that these UI patents expire before I’m too old to use ‘em.
