The Other Iraq
Is Kurdistan really in Iraq? It almost seems like a world away.
Some facts:
- Known for devotion to organic farming.
- Peaceful, secular, democratic. Really.
- No coalition troop has been killed in Kurdistan.
- Kurdistan boasts two new universities, an international airport, and development is “everywhere.” There are 2,700 functioning schools in Kurdistan.
- Saddam’s Al-Anfal campaign is said to have cost the lives of 182,000 civilian Kurds according to Human Rights Watch and Amnesty Intl’.
- Almost half of all Kurds–15 million–live in Turkey.
