You are an Infidel

Almost as disturbing as the London and Madrid transit bombings, are the more obscure Islamist murders, such as the shockingly brutal killing of Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh. You may remember that Van Gogh, who was related to the famous painter, created a film called “Submission” which spotlighted violence against women in certain Islamic societies. He was shot 15 times and had his throat slit– in the middle of a pleasant Amersterdam street (as approximately 50 witnesses looked on).

Two weeks ago, in a Dutch court, Mohammed Bouyeri tells the world, “I can assure you that one day, should I be set free, I would do exactly the same, exactly the same.”

The killer addressed Van Gogh’s mother: “I cannot feel for you … because I believe you are an infidel.”

Now, we learn that two gay teenagers have been publicly executed in Iran.

More reminders of how incompatible this kind of extremism is with any interpretation of a free society.
