The movie analogy for what is happening now is the parade scene at the end of Animal House.
Kevin Bacon’s privileged Omega ROTC character (Chip Diller) keeps repeating “All is well” as the Deltas storm the homecoming parade. As the crowd panics and scatters, Diller continues to believe and tell everyone that “All is well!” even though it is growing worse, eventually screaming it at the top of his lungs as the chaotic masses engulf him and stomp him into the asphalt.
