Dillo Daydreams

I started to begin this entry with “When it rains, it pours…” See, I don’t have a computer right now and the car was dropped off at Hi-Tech Automotive (probably the only auto garage in the US with a sticker on the wall that says “Air Hugger”). I had to take the Dillo to campus to use a computer. Dillos are the free shuttle busses that look like trolleys. Why is it that riding a bus that doesn’t look like a bus doesn’t feel like riding a bus? Know what I’m saying? Anyway, I overheard some homeless-looking men next to me laughing about the senseless fuss of the Christmas holidays. But with blank expressions, they watched people walk down Congress with arms full of packages. As the bus sputtered and chugged over the Congress Ave. bridge, I daydreamed about seeing my family, Sarah’s family, friends, eating great meals, opening gifts, and leaving real life stress back in Austin. I can’t wait. Sarah and I don’t get a Christmas tree or put up any seasonal decorations around the apartment. I think the reason is because we like to arrive at my parent’s house in Lexington and instantly feel the holiday rush–wreaths, bows, twinkling lights, scents, etc. It’s good to be home. So it’s not really raining at all for me. Not even sprinkling… As a matter of fact, it’s been so sunny and warm in Austin that Cedar Fever is in full effect.
