Google and Stuff
Sarah and I are magazine junkies. We subscribe to rags like PC Mag and Cooking Light and go to Book People at least once a week. They probably tossed that comfy couch because of freeloaders like us. Anyway, we get Newsweek and I just scanned the Dec. 16 issue last night. Google fanatics might want to check it out before the “Lott” issue hits the stands. It is another example of how Google is long past “wildy popular” and has melted into the culture. The author notes the triumph of Google News, Google’s automated news service and how Journalism purists have reacted negatively. The point they miss is that Google taps in to the “combined judgment of human beings posting info to the web.” I guess that is what makes Google so cool. I can’t think of any other web site or app that harnesses the power of the internet so well.
Oh… so today my hard drive decided to die and I can’t boot up Windows. We’ve been planning for months (years?) to get a Dell and I’ll be back up soon. But for now, I’m getting my Mac on at UT. But there probably won’t be too many posts to the site for the next few weeks.
